From Classroom to Community: Baylands Family Credit Union's Financial Education Program Earns Prestigious State Award for Financial Literacy

WEST POINT, VIRGINIA – Baylands Family Credit Union has always understood the importance of financial literacy! From partnering with local school teachers to help students better understand the importance of financial literacy, to educating adults both in the workplace and through workshops held in the branch, Baylands has taught a variety of topics on financial health and wellness. The not-for-profit credit union even offers a credit counseling service to help members get back on track to achieve their personal goals.

We believe that financial literacy is key to building strong, resilient communities, and we are proud to continue offering resources that help our members achieve their financial goals.”

The award acknowledges Baylands’ comprehensive approach to financial education, which includes workshops, online resources, and one-on-one consultations designed to meet the diverse needs of its members. In addition to its educational initiatives, Baylands FCU has fostered partnerships with local organizations to extend its financial literacy programs, and most recently introduced its MoneyEDU Online Financial Wellness Center.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Virginia Credit Union League for our ongoing efforts to make financial education accessible to everyone,” added Holly Burrow, Director of Operations. “This award reinforces our commitment to providing the tools and support our members need to succeed financially, now and in the future.”
