The Arc of Greater Williamsburg is privileged to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. Our Arc chapter was founded in 1976 and serves young adults as they age out of special education at age 21 and continue throughout their lifetimes. Our services include a variety of evening programs and activities, a day program called Arc of Abilities, and an employment program called Wheels4Work.

The Programs & Vocational Training Assistant will enjoy a multi-faceted position that will provide support in all program areas serving Arc clientele.
Primary Function
In coordination with Programs and Volunteer Coordinator, assist with administration of Arc programs and activities.
Serve as an instructor assistant in the Arc of Abilities day program, as needed.
Provide Vocational Training support for Lifelong Learning and Arc of Abilities programs.
- Oversee clients and volunteers at 1-2 evening activities per week, included in hourly schedule.
- Assist clients with vocational and life skills training to prepare for employment opportunities that match their skills. As appropriate, assist with transportation scheduling with Arc’s Wheels4Work program.
- Assist in planning, execution, and attending Arc’s large-scale fundraisers.
- Assist Executive Director, as needed.
Schedule
30 - 35 hours per week
Evening and occasional weekend programs would be included in total hours; majority of time is conducted in administrative offices and at the Arc of Abilities program.
Schedule will be determined by weekly day and evening program schedule in collaboration with other staff members and Executive Director.
Qualifications
College degree and/or equivalent work history.
Strong written, verbal, and communication skills.
- Excellent basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Team player with a desire to make a difference, show initiative, and empower our Arc clients.
