Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer concert series runs Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. through August 14. We’ve got bands playing beach music, country, jazz, R&B, popular hits, and so much more! The Main Event Band is the ultimate party band! Their performances include musical styles from the 80s and 90s, as well as your favorite songs of today. From beach music to classic rock, from soul to country, from disco to funk, and everything in-between, the group features top-notch vocals, a tight rhythm section, and one of the best horn sections around. Before the entertainment begins, visitors are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy dinner or dessert at any of Historic Yorktown’s waterfront restaurants including Water Street Grille, Carrot Tree, Umi Sushi, Ben & Jerry’s, and Yorktown Pub. Guests are permitted to bring their own blankets, chairs, and small coolers. No tables, umbrellas, or tents are allowed. There will be a dance floor, friendly games of corn hole, and tasty, to-go meals from rotating food trucks available for purchase. Free parking is available at designated public parking lots throughout town, including York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, and County Administration Building. The complimentary, wheelchair-accessible Yorktown Trolley runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. during every concert with a modified route that still includes some of the stops on the outskirts of town.
