The World Languages department, Spanish Honor Society, Warhill Athletic department, and Lions Roar Theater Company of the school are bringing a professional dance company called “Calpulli” to present an educational show that will explain what the Aztec celebration of Día de Muertos is as a prominent cultural celebration in Mexican culture. Students, parents, and community members are invited to attend the show on October 17th (4:30 and 6:30 shows). This show will engage the audience in a cultural journey through exploration of the traditions, songs, dances, and language that traces its earliest roots to the Aztec people in what is now central Mexico. “Día de Muertos”: The Day of the Dead! holiday is dedicated to honoring family members and loved ones who have passed on. The celebration lasts from November 1st through the 2nd. a teaser of the show can be seen of this link: https://youtu.be/PhEE6qAnMdc?si=ak09TtPU6EV8KWg2
It is our pride that such a project is the first of its kind in our community and Warhill High School has the honor of hosting it. To be able to make this experience a reality for our community, we are inviting everyone to attend the show. We depend on the selling of the tickets to be able to be successful and any help is good. On the day of the show, we are also having a pop-up restaurant with authentic Mexican food which can be purchased at very reasonable price. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity I hope you come and are able to spread the word. Ticket can be bought here: WARHILL (booktix.com)
