Join the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 15th from 4-6pm, for an engaging evening of networking and a unique look inside the world of modern medicine. Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is excited to showcase some of their cutting-edge minimally invasive surgical procedures, and attendees will even have the opportunity for hands-on experiences!

SWRMC Leadership
Michael McKendall, MS, PharmD, Vice President of Operations Sentara CarePlex Hospital and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center
Mike serves as Vice President of Operations at Sentara CarePlex and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. He has over 15 years of healthcare experience with a majority of that time in a leadership role. Mike came to Sentara from East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana where he served as Vice President of Operations. He has a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Doctorate of Pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of New Orleans. Mike is an accomplished leader in and out of the organization, serving on a number of community boards. In 2023, he was named “New Orleans 500” by Biz New Orleans magazine, which recognizes 500 community and business leaders in the New Orleans metro area. Mike believes in mentoring the future leaders of healthcare. He served as a preceptor for Tulane University Healthcare Administration program residents, Xavier University College of Pharmacy Students, LCMC Administrative Fellowship and Emerging Leaders Programs.
Cornelius Powell, MD, MBA, CHCQM-PSRM, Vice President, Chief Medical Office
Dr. Powell is a Board-Certified ED physician, and is Board Certified in Healthcare Quality and Management. He began his career as a Special Forces medic, serving several tours overseas. He obtained his MD at East Tennessee State University, followed by his residency in Emergency Medicine at Atrium Heath, Carolinas Medical Center.
Dr. Powell served as ED Medical Director at Tucson Medical Center, implementing a new ED operational model resulting in improved throughput and KPI, and obtained an MBA. Before joining Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, he served as the Regional Medical Director for American Physician Partners and has extensive experience in physician leadership and operations.
Pamela Anderson, MHA, BSN, RN, Interim Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Surgical Services, Respiratory/Sleep/Neuro Services, Cardiac & IR Services
Pam began her nursing career for UPMC in Pittsburgh PA. specializing in Intensive Care and Emergency Nursing. She continued her career with Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in 1999 continuing to focus on Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing.
In 2007, Pam relocated to Buffalo, New York and began her leadership and executive leadership career with Kaleida Health. Pam led as the Director of Nursing Operations and in 2020 was promoted to the VP Chief Nursing Officer role for two hospitals within the Kaleida Health System. In 2023, Pam returned to Williamsburg, Virginia to be closer to family. She was fortunate to return to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center as Director of Patient Care Services leading the Emergency Department and Critical Care Services. In October of 2024, Pam assumed responsibility for Surgical Services and in November of 2024, accepted the Interim role of Chief Nursing Offer.
