16th Annual Run/Walk with Here for the Girls

Here for the Girls, Inc. a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and the Colonial Road Runners announce the 16th annual 5K/1 Mile Fun Run/Walk in Williamsburg, on the beautiful trails of New Town (starting at Sullivan Square located behind Legacy Hall, 4301 New Town Ave). The purpose of this popular event is to raise funds for young women living with breast cancer. The family-friendly event begins at 8:00 am with opening ceremony, a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:00 am and the 5K at 9:30 am. Alongside the Run/Walk is the third annual Screening + Prevention Village. The Village is a collaborative effort bringing together the health systems and other community organizations to provide vital information and services to all who attend. Some examples include free mammograms by Sentara using its mobile testing van, an 8-foot inflatable interactive exhibit by Genentech about the biology and detection of breast cancer, free flu shots, as well as other informative exhibits by Riverside, Virginia Oncologists Association, Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute, and many more are in the works.
