250th Anniversary of Lord Dunmore’s Virginia Campaign

Monday, June 2, 2025 8:00 AM - Sunday, June 8, 2025 8:00 PM (EDT)

Description

Lord Dunmore – He’s the man the colonists loved to hate. Join us for a look back at the controversial British leader during the 250th Anniversary of his Virginia Campaign. After dissolving the House of Burgesses in Williamsburg and in the midst of rising unrest, Dunmore escaped to a British ship in the York River on June 8, 1775. From there, he organized numerous raids and attacks along the waterfront. We’ll take a look back at this pivotal moment in American history during a week filled with reenactments, musical performances, and family-friendly activities. This event is part of the Virginia 250 Celebration and is open to the public. On Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, we’ll offer a patriotic salute to our Armed Forces, celebrating the contributions of our American heroes — both past and present — as part of Military Appreciation Weekend. The free, accessible Yorktown Trolley will be running during this event.
